As if there weren’t enough reasons to take pretty pictures. Instagram can be a marvelous opportunity to build your fan base and find a bit of inspiration.
With right around a hundred followers on Facebook and Instagram I’m clearly no expert on building a media empire but I do know this, just like with the blog, posting regularly and interaction are key. I could post more often but my priority is the website and honestly I’m just not that much of a go getter.
I used to be a purist about instagram, only photos taken on my phone, posted instantly. Then I started noticing a suspiciously large amount of polished photographs appearing in my photo stream and social media lemming that I am, I followed who I follow. Now I’m a 30% purist. I still want my instagram feed to reflect a bit of spontaneity.
This chocolate cake picture was taken on my phone, actual instagram. Back before I gave into the hashtag.
Having iMessenger on the laptop and on the phone makes transferring the pretty shots between the two so simple. I just drag the pictures from my laptop into the messages icon on my dock and have a conversation with myself. Whoosh, whoosh, save and share.
One of the things I like about instagram is that you can leave your initial comment hashtag free and then comment later with any hashtags or shoutouts you want to use. A middle ground between braggy and conversational. And you can talk about the image or your post beyond 140 characters. Comments on instagram allow for quite a bit of conversation.
As an added bonus I’ve seen some amazing pictures from all over the world by checking out some of my newest followers pictures. I totally want to live in Norway/Sweden right now and I’m not that keen on winter.
