update addendum: fresh herbs and bloody mary mix are a tricky thing- this siracha bloody mary mix is perfect for the first few hours but with time the thyme grows stronger. so either add the thyme just before serving or drink it all just after mixing.
Spicy Siracha Bloody Mary Mix with fresh herbs
I know, Siracha is so last year, so Mumford and Sons, so Uggs. I cast no judgment on Mumford and Sons or Uggs, both have their place and time, it’s not their fault they’ve been overused, abused. So too Siracha, just because it became chip flavor du jour is no reason to take it off the shelf. It’s the perfect hot sauce for Bloody Mary’s—enough kick to be noticed but not so much that an extra drop or to sends your salivary glands into high alert.
True story- stopped for Bloody Marys after the farmers market one Sunday. “What’s that herb?” I asked the waiter. “Thyme,” he said, “it’s our secret ingredient.” Is a secret ingredient still a secret ingredient once the secret is out? And now the secret isn’t even just our secret, it’s OUR secret. But maybe you don’t ant to pluck thyme leaves off the stalk or pick then from your teeth at the end of your drink, I understand.
