coffee vanilla infused vodka spritzer
With the weekend approaching I am feeling half motivated and half lazy, a combination that seems to cry out for a slightly caffeinated booze infused beverage. Something more grown up and less confused than Red Bull and Vodka (something I never tried but I’m going to be judgey about anyway).
Indulge me for one moment while I once again sing the praises of micro batch infused liquor. With these little love bombs and a bottle of fizzy water I never need go thirsty, I never need sink into a rut of sameness. If we had cocktail parties I suppose I might have to rethink the micro aspect of things but we don’t so I’m perfectly satisfied to have a horde of flight sized flavored rums and vodkas.
I started this particular infusion weeks ago, there is a photo but it stubbornly refuses to transfer from the digital card to the computer, so close your eyes if you must and imagine a mason jar, about fifteen whole coffee beans (medium dark roast), a small piece of a vanilla bean, a tablespoon of sugar, and a bottle of vodka all artfully arranged on my woodblock cutting board. The beans (both vanilla and coffee) sat in the vodka longer than I intended and so there was just a bit bitterer than I imagined. Solution, a hint of citrus and a healthy pour of fizzy water.
Result: A quenching cocktail both bright and soft with just the faintest hints of vanilla and lemon.
