Fancy F***’N Iced Coffee (Irish Optional)

On the coffee snob scale I think I fall somewhere between Chock Full of Nuts (I’m not even sure that is still for sale but I do love the old theme song) and a bean with flavor notes longer than my arm that requires a specific temperature and method of brewing or pressing or distilling.

Often my morning coffee starts hot and ends up cold (in this case ice cold, as I’ve taken to freezing the leftovers) Also I’ll admit it I prefer a dark roast. So my fancy iced coffee might not be your fancy iced coffee and the Irish? I’ll leave that up to you too. I’d go Irish Whiskey but Baileys a touch of Baileys if you prefer more sweet would be nice too.

Fancy F’N Iced Coffee

Make your own small batch iced Irish Coffee with real chocolate (or vanilla, or both!) whipped cream- whiskey and Irish cream are optional- actually the small batch part is also optional, scale up to your hearts content.

Prep Time 6 hours hrs
Course Cocktail, Drinks
Servings 1 drink

Ingredients

  • Enough Coffee Ice Cubes to fill your vessel of choice
  • 2 ounces cold coffee or Irish Whiskey or Baileys or a combo of all of the above.

Chocolate or Vanilla Whipped Cream to top

  • heavy whipping cream
  • granulated sugar
  • vanilla extract
  • unsweetened cocoa powder
  • water or whiskey

Instructions

  • Add Coffee Ice Cubes to your glass
  • Add Liquids of choice- my favorite is 2 ounces of irish whisky and 2 ounces of cold coffee in a tall glass- just don’t over fill like the pictures, it makes for messy sipping.
  • Top with whipped cream- see notes

Notes

I freeze any leftover coffee so I have the cubes at the ready when the urge for iced coffee arises.

To make chocolate whipped cream I abandoned my shake method and went with actual whipping. most recipes call for somewhere between 2 tablespoon to a 1/4 cup of sugar per cup of heavy cream- since I usually make whipped cream for just one or two people I rarely whip more than a half cup of heavy cream at a time and add sugar to taste (I prefer less sweet). It’s easy to add more sugar it’s impossible to take it away. I like to make a batch of vanilla whipped cream (cold cream, sugar to taste, and a small splash of vanilla extract in a large bowl- I don’t bother with the make it all extra cold thing as I’ve not noticed a difference) and then once set remove half or so and add chocolate to the rest For a cup of already whipped cream I add about one teaspoon of cocoa powder made into a slurry with about a teaspoon of water or whisky or brandy or cream and continue to whip until combined
